- Current research activities
Susan Dodds conducts research on the ethical, legal, political
and social context of human embryonic stem cell research and research
ethics review of research protocols. Much of her work focuses
on the commodification of gametes, embryos and stem cells; the
commodification of biotechnology research; and the relationships
between the global biotechnology industry and the ideals of liberal
democracy. These interests extend into an interest in human tissue
transplantation, xenotransplantation and organ donation/retrieval
policies. Her background is in political theory and applied ethics,
with specialist interest in democratic theory and feminist bioethics
as framing an approach to critical evaluation of health care and
medical research policy.
