Victoria Ltd
Overview
Neurosciences Victoria Ltd (NSV) is both a neuroscience research
consortium and a specialist technology transfer and IP commercialisation
enterprise.
NSV was formed in September 2000 by The University of Melbourne,
Monash University, the Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology
& Medicine, and the National Stroke Research Institute. NSV
is funded to develop and maintain neuroscience research infrastructure,
brought together as the Australian National Neuroscience Facility,
and to commercialise IP.
NSV supports Research Programs directed towards understanding the
cause and improving diagnosis and treatment of neurological and
neuropsychiatric disorders. Each program comprises a number of research
projects judged to be of excellent merit according to scientific
and commercialisation criteria. We are interested in commercial
partners within broad program areas, including: Pain, Epilepsy,
Stroke, Neurodegeneration, Neuroregeneration and Neuro-Protection,
Glial and inflammatory disorders and Psychoses.
Competitive
Advantages/Technology
NSV’s Research Programs are underpinned by fully integrated
infrastructure which is available for commercial research -
- Cellular Neuro-physiology: electrophysiology at the single cell
level.
- Complex systems and integrative neuro-physiology: phenotyping,
including brain histology, behaviour, physiology and pharmacology.
- Clinical Neurosciences: co-ordinated clinical trials & epidemiology
centres.
- Neuro-imaging: PET; fMRI; MRSpec.
- Informatics: software tools & techniques.
- Proteomics/Genomics: gene and protein expression in neurological
& neuropsychiatric conditions.
- Neural tissue repository: human and animal tissue that is clinically
