- Current research activities
Director of the UK Centre for Tissue Engineering, a £10
million collaboration between the Universities of Liverpool and
Manchester. This is funded by MRC, BBSRC and EPSRC for 6 years
and has three clinical targets, involving skin tissue engineering,
cartilage tissue engineering and tubular structures within the
cardiovascular system. The work involves aspects of stem cell
sourcing and manipulation, gene transfection, scaffolds, bioreactors
and inflammatory / immune responses.
